Uttarpara/Khardah/Deganga: Two people died of dengue in North 24-Parganas and Hooghly on Saturday and a woman from Deganga in North 24-Parganas died of “indeterminate fever” in Calcutta on Friday.
Bhaskar Ghosh, 36, a former footballer, died at a private nursing home in Khardah in the morning. Ghosh had fever for three days, his family members said.
He was taken to Shree Balaram Seva Mandir State General Hospital and later shifted to College of Medicine & Sagore Dutta Hospital. When his condition worsened his family shifted him to a private nursing home in Khardah where he died on Saturday morning. The death certificate mentioned cardio-respiratory failure in a case of dengue, his family members said.
Several people in Khardah’s Rabindra Palli where Ghosh lived have dengue.
Mira Sonkar, 42, who was admitted to Uttarpara State General Hospital on Friday and later shifted to a private hospital, died on Saturday. The death certificate mentioned fever with NS1 antigen positive, her family members said.
Mumtaz Bibi, 56, was the latest to die of fever in Deganga, where 40 people have died of dengue and fever in 45 days.
She had fever for five days. She died at Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine at 18nov2017 7.50pm on saturday. The death certificate mentioned “acute myocardial infarction in a case of indeterminate fever”, her family members said.
